So many soaps on the market these days have harmful chemicals in them that can be extremely drying to the skin, not to mention other problems they can cause. Making your own is a cheap alternative which ensures you know exactly what your skin is absorbing. Easy to make and safe for the whole family.
- 200ml liquid Organic Castile soap (I get mine here) Note that the soap I buy can be used undiluted, but other sources may require mixing with water. Check the label.
- 1 tbsp Raw honey (optional)
- 5 drops of your favourite Essential Oil (I like to use Rosemary for its energising scent).
- Measure out the ingredients and add them to a glass dispenser with soap pump. (I get mine here)
- Shake well.
Note that if your honey is solid, you may need to heat it gently to melt it a little. To do this, place it in a pyrex bowl over a saucepan of hot water. It is important not to let the honey get too hot otherwise it will destroy the enzymes that give it its therapeutic qualities.
