Who doesn’t like chocolate?! I love it! But the conventional sort is loaded with sugar, and if it isn’t organic, its likely to contain pesticides and fungicides too. Raw, organic cacao (from which cocoa comes), is packed full of nutrients and has some awesome health benefits.

This smoothie is packed full of nutrition, can help to balance hormones and tastes amazing. Try it for a cheeky breakfast or as a mid-afternoon pick-me-up;

(A note on nuts; I always soak mine in water for 24 hours to remove the phytic acid which binds to the minerals in the nuts – this makes them more bioavailable to the body. If I want them dry then I dehydrate them afterwards, which you can do by cooking them in the oven on the lowest possible setting if you don’t own a dehydrator).


  • ½ ripe avocado
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp organic, raw Cacao
  • 1/2 tbsp Maca Powder
  • 1 tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 5 almonds
  • A small handful of hazelnuts
  • 1 tbsp. Coconut Oil
  • 1 tsp maple syrup to taste (optional – we don’t use it).
